Selling via Auction

How it works?

Create your ad completely free. Fill in the details and upload pictures of your car. Enter your reservation price, which is the lowest price you are willing to accept for selling it. The reservation price needs to be realistic according to market prices, depending on whether you want to sell to a private individual or a car dealer.

When the bidding reaches your reservation price, you enter into an agreement with the bidder that they will buy your car. Submit the ad and our expert team will review it to ensure it follows our guidelines. If the ad needs adjustments, our support team will get back to you.

If the ad is approved immediately, your car will be published within 60 minutes. Super easy and super convenient, completely free!

Would you like a guaranteed price for your car?

A guaranteed price from Carstop means that Carstop will buy your car at the guaranteed price. This is a very popular option for private individuals, dealers, and leasing companies alike.

If your auction does not reach your specified reserve price and the car is not sold, you can use your guaranteed price to sell the car.

If you choose not to sell the car at the guaranteed price we have offered you, there is no cost.

Contact our support team via email, and they will provide you with a guaranteed price for your car in case it does not sell at the car auction.

Does it cost anything to sell?

At Carstop, it is completely free to create your ad and sell your car. Now you are probably wondering how Carstop makes money?

Carstop charges a fixed purchase fee of 2% of the end amount excluding VAT for each car sold at the car auction.

What is meant by reservation price?

When your car has reached the reserve price that you set when you created the ad, you as the seller enter into an agreement with the buyer that the car will be sold at the lowest price. If your car does not reach the reserve price, we recommend that you lower the reserve price so that the car is sold below market price.

Where is my car displayed?

Carstop exposes your car using AI on social platforms, Google, Display, Blocket, Tradera and to our car dealer network. By using AI, a better customer group is reached who are inclined to buy and are looking for just the kind of car you advertise at our car auction.

Guidelines for avoiding price deductions during pickup and inspection

The car is in a damage-free condition and includes complete summer (3mm) and winter wheels (4mm) unless otherwise agreed.

* The car has undergone any service according to the manufacturer’s recommendations.

* The car is in a damage-free condition. For example, there is no damage to the exterior, interior, dashboard or rims.

* The car has complete summer wheels (tires and rims) with at least 3 mm tread depth.

* The car has complete winter wheels (tires and rims) with at least 4 mm tread depth. If studless winter tires are used, they must be approved and marked with the 3PMSF symbol.

If your car deviates from the guidelines, it is extremely important that you include this in your advertisement so that the buyer calculates any costs when they bid on your car.

If you have included this in your advertisement, the buyer cannot make deductions when the car is inspected and collected.

How do I create a really good ad?

Selling your car online via auction is super easy. The buyer have usually done a digital check of your car before they bid on it. Different buyers have different requirements for what condition the car should be in when they bid on it.

Therefore, it is important to write down all possible damage and defects on the car so that there is no misunderstanding when the car is to be picked up. Carstop has put together a clear directive on what condition the car should be in when it is inspected, picked up and paid for.

If the car is not in the condition according to our directive, it is extremely important that you write and photograph it so that you include it in the advertisement you create. This way, the bidder cannot make deductions if it has been included in your ad.

When photographing your car, please follow our example image. By doing so, we maintain high quality across all listed cars.

When you upload your photos, they are processed by our AI image generator to ensure all images have a professional studio appearance.

We recommend 6-8 exterior photos and 2-4 interior photos. Don’t forget to include images of any paint scratches, dents, curb-damaged rims, excessive stone chips on the hood and front bumper, as well as any stone chips or cracks in the windshield.

To highlight minor damages or stone chips on the car, please point to them with a pen so bidders can clearly see the extent of the damage.

If you are as transparent as possible in your car description, you will receive better bids and no price reductions when the car is inspected on-site at your home.

Please make sure the car is washed and cleaned before you take photos to get the highest possible bids on your car.

What should I include in the description?

Your description should include anything buyers will need or want to know about the vehicle. Call out any notable elements of the specification, condition, or provenance of the vehicle that you feel will be of interest. Listing out the service history, dates and mileages is also very helpful to prospective buyers. Your vehicle must be ‘as described’ so please be as transparent as you can about any faults or damage.

How should I price my car?

Do your research and price the car realistically to encourage interest. Rather than aligning to speculative asking prices that are often not based in reality, take a look at sale prices for similar vehicles with comparable specification and mileage, and pay particular attention to recent sales, as market values can change quickly.

When you create your ad, you set a reserve price, which means it is the lowest price you want to sell the car for. If the bids do not reach your reserve price, we at Carstop will mediate between you and the buyer to try to reach a deal.

When you create your ad, you also have the option to make a really quick deal by entering a “Buy Now” price. If you set a really attractive “Buy Now” price, you can expect your car to be sold immediately.

Why do you have PINK on your site?

Carstop has chosen a PINK theme on various fields on our website. Carstop wants to be completely transparent in business. By choosing the color pink, we also choose to donate 100 SEK from each completed car auction to the Rosa Bandet.
